A Texas woman pulled from a burning apartment had been shot – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Duncanville firefighters working to extinguish a fire in an apartment building Monday morning found the body of a woman who had been shot inside a home.

Duncanville police said firefighters were called just after 6 a.m. to a fire at an apartment building on the 600 block of Oriole Boulevard, near Camp Wisdom Road and Interstate 20.

Police said in a statement Monday that Duncanville firefighters entered the home and found an unconscious adult woman. Firefighters removed the woman from the building and discovered she had been shot in the head.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance personnel.

Duncanville police launched an investigation into the woman’s death and said they had spoken to neighbors and witnesses. Police said they had identified a “person of interest” and the person was taken into custody on unrelated charges. No further information has been released about the person in custody and no other suspects have been identified or arrested.

Police said there were no other occupants of the home and there were indications the woman’s death was an isolated incident.
