Son of country legend who was hospitalized again and headed in ‘right direction’

After Ernest Lynn, the son of the late country legend Loretta Lynn, was back in the hospital last week following emergency surgery earlier this year, his wife, Crystal Lynn, shared a promising update on Monday.

“We have seen marked improvement in him over the past 24 hours, so I think we are finally moving in the right direction,” Lynn wrote on Facebook on May 6.

Ernest appeared to be showing signs of improvement after critical surgery earlier this year, but the 69-year-old was back in hospital last week. His wife wrote on Facebook on the night of Tuesday, April 30, that “more problems have arisen, and while it is ‘pretty routine’ for the doctors, it is very scary for us.”

While Crystal Lynn said her husband would undergo a procedure the next morning to address the issues, Lynn expressed her fear of what might happen next.

“We are concerned about the possibility that this could become quite serious quite quickly… but it would be even more serious if we ignored it,” she wrote. “We are generally afraid because everyone has lost someone they love because of this problem…. But I am here tonight to declare: NOT TODAY!”

That fear seemed to turn to hope, as evidenced by Lynn’s latest update on Ernest.

“We appreciate all your concerns and continued prayers for complete healing,” she wrote Monday. “Thank you all…God bless.”

Ernest Lynn underwent “critical surgery due to kidney failure” in late January, according to a post on Loretta Lynn’s Instagram.

In a January 23 Facebook post, Crystal Lynn explained that her husband had undergone surgery two weeks earlier “related to his kidney failure and dialysis needs, which did not yield good results.”

Therefore, Ernest Lynn had to undergo another operation that day.

“It’s a life-saving and life-sustaining operation, so we really need it to work this time so they don’t have to take more drastic measures,” Crystal Lynn added.

In late February, Crystal Lynn shared photos of the couple on Facebook of her and her husband on their “first bike ride of the season,” showing that the 69-year-old was recovering well. However, last month it was shared that Ernest Lynn needed a kidney transplant and was waiting for a donor.

“Today is a REALLY important day for Ernie in terms of his health and his transplant journey,” Crystal Lynn wrote on Facebook on April 3.

“We would appreciate your prayers asking for God’s influence and favor that Ernie will be approved for this procedure as a new kidney would dramatically improve his quality of life, length of life, and of course his emotional and mental health,” Crystal continued . . “He has so much life to live and so much love to give and I know he will continue to grow with God and serve His purpose. Thank you all….God bless you all.”

Crystal Lynn’s latest post was flooded with more than 200 comments on Monday evening.

“Thanks for the update on Ernie. I’m so happy to hear this news,” said one Facebook user. “Sending prayers for you and Ernie.”

“I know I don’t know your family personally, but I’ve loved Loretta and her family since I was a teenager so I’m definitely praying,” someone else commented. “Thanks for the update.”
