The CEO of Helldivers 2 responds now that the game has been removed from PSN in 177 countries

Since the launch of Hell divers 2 earlier this year, Arrowhead Games Studios successfully went from step to step. With consistently great content post-launch and a passionate community to fall back on, everything seemed to be going well Helldivers country. Now, one of the recent decisions we have to make PSN accounts required for all players on other platforms, Arrowhead’s Johan Pilestedt responds to player concerns.

The latest patch for Arrowhead’s popular co-op game rolled out a mandatory PSN account requirement for Helldivers 2 players diving into Steam. Because PSN’s jurisdiction does not cover every region for some players, this means that a large portion of the multiplayer game’s player base could face an account ban. As a result, negative reviews have absolutely destroyed the game’s reputation.

After this, Pilestedt explains: “I think this is justified. Sorry everyone for how this all happened. I hope we can make things right and regain trust by continuing to provide a great gaming experience.” While Pilestedt’s intentions were intended to alleviate player frustrations, the situation has only worsened for one of the best PS5 multiplayer games out there. According to SteamDB, the game is no longer available for purchase in 177 countries where PSN is currently unavailable.

A resolution has yet to be found between Arrowhead and Sony regarding this obstacle for Helldivers 2, but Pilestedt assures players that discussions are ongoing. In a follow-up post about the situation, he says that “we are discussing solutions with PlayStation, especially for non-PSN countries. Your voice has been heard and I am doing everything I can to speak for the community, but I do not have the final say.”

It seems that the situation was also inevitable. Before players would enjoy content like the recent Polar Patriots Warbond or see the game poke fun at Escape From Tarkov, Pilestedt clarified in a separate post that Arrowhead “knew about six months before launch that it would be mandatory for online PS titles.” Amid the wave of disgruntled calls from Arrowhead and Sony from players, Sucker Punch Productions has clarified that another of the best PS5 games, Ghost of Tsushima, will only require an account for the game’s multiplayer mode in the PC port .

“For the avoidance of doubt, a PSN account is required for the Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the single-player game,” says the developer.
